Sinful Sunday: I am…

…naked!

Frequently.

Of course I am – it’s right there in my blog title and my Twitter handle. Exhibit A. Exhibit Unadorned. I like being naked, and I like having people (consensually) there to see it – and to take photos.

Even though a lot of my hottest fantasies revolve around being naked in front of an audience, it’s not always a sexual thing. I’ve written before about my lack of body confidence as a teenager and into my 20s. One way I got over that was to push out my chest and say ‘fuck it’ – not just to the world and to life, but to myself.

Getting naked – often in terrifyingly public/visible ways – helped me to change the relationship I have with my body, and to see it in a much more positive light. It’s also a pretty radical act, given the way society still vacillates between Victorian prudishness and sniggering prurience in its response to nudity.

Plus sometimes it’s just nice, y’know – especially on a hot day, when you’re outside and want to feel the sun on your body.

On those occasions, I like to strip off just for the hell of it. I love feeling that twin warmth – the excitement of doing something taboo or forbidden flushing my skin right as the sun hits it.

Over the years, I’ve got naked in many weird and wonderful places for Sinful Sunday. A Polish forest. A beach in the East of Scotland. New York City’s High Line. For this month’s prompt, it felt right to add one more unusual location to the list.

We’ve spent the last few days at La Manga Club on the south-east tip of Spain. There are actually plenty of nudist beaches further along the coast from here, towards Almeria, but today we found ourselves in a quiet little cove near our hotel, on a gorgeous, dreamily sunlit October afternoon. Up on the rocks, away from prying eyes and lulled by the rhythmic rush of water back and forth beneath us, the only appropriate response was to shuck my swimming trunks and enjoy one of the things I do best.

This week – this month, this year, this life – I am naked.

I love being naked too, especially in the sunshine. It is one of the reasons I wished I lived in a warmer climate so I could spend more time being comfortably naked
