Sinful Sunday: It’s a Swing Thing

There’s a long tradition of professional athletes getting naked for magazine shoots. Flick through pretty much any of them (ESPN’s annual ‘The Body Issue’ is perhaps the best place to start), and you’ll notice one recurring theme: genitals are almost entirely missing. Well, missing or ‘tastefully’ obscured by scenery, other body parts, or relevant sporting equipment.

There are perfectly understandable reasons for this. Very few mainstream publications show genitals full stop, and if you’re a global sporting star, potentially paid millions in salary and sponsorship contracts, you have a personal brand to maintain: that brand is rarely, if ever, enhanced by getting your cock or cunt out for the world to admire.

I, however, am not a global sporting star, and the photos on my blog are never going to appear on ESPN. So when I picked up my old softball bat for a gloriously happy photoshoot with blogging friends yesterday afternoon, I had no intention of hiding anything! I was more than happy for my other bat (and balls!) to appear alongside the metal one, and was actually far more focused on trying to hold something approximating a proper batter’s stance.

However, as luck would have it, the best photo from that shoot would absolutely meet ESPN’s rather prudish publication guidelines – to the point where it almost feels like an accidental homage to/pastiche of that whole genre of naked photography! I smiled when I saw it: because of the visual pun, and because it made me feel good about myself and my body, which always seems like a bit of a bonus in January.

Never mind the stance though, or the size of my bat: can I swing it? For now, I’ll have to leave that one to your imagination…

This could easily be an advert for whatever it is men carrying baseball bats advertise. Too bad the bat has to be a euphemism for your cock, but this will do. Great image and editing.

This really does look like it belongs in the pages of espn the magazine or sports illustrated. You are actually exactly who I think of when I think of a naked athlete, and this photo perfectly captures your love of sport and fun and being naked. 🙂
