Sinful Sunday: The Little Things

Halfway through a leisurely brunch in a NoHo restaurant this afternoon, I got warm enough to peel off my jumper, exposing the shirt beneath it. My friend gasped, and clutched at my sleeve, dragging it towards her.

“You’re wearing cufflinks. Have I ever told you how sexy I find men in cufflinks?”

I watched her as she studied them, her face rapt. We spend hours styling our hair, doing our make-up, choosing our outfits, and tweaking a million different things about our appearance, with the aim of inducing that sort of response in a date.

Enough time and attention, in fact, to make us forget that sometimes it’s the little things that really count…

I beg to differ – I don’t think that the cufflinks are a little thing at all. It’s a kind of jewelry, perhaps the masculine equivalent of earrings. But on top of that you also need to own shirts with French cuffs, which takes time and attention in advance more than on the day. (And where I live, owning a shirt with French cuffs also takes effort and determination. They’re quite hard to find.)

For me, it’s the knowledge of the enforced delay associated with cufflinks that makes them so hot. Knowing that, no matter how much I want to tear your shirt off, you’ll have to stop, undo the cufflinks and put them on the side…and all I can do is watch and wait. So you’re right – sometimes little things can create the best shivers of anticipation… Xxx

Details are important. Obviously, the turn-on specifics may vary from person to person, but I know a lot of women who get weak in the knee seeing a man in rolled up shirt sleeves… (P.S. I hate WordPress and its stupid commenting system that won’t let me change from a work-related Twitter account to my own when commenting here.)

Yep, it is the little details that can make all the difference, the seems on the back of a good pair of stockings, clean shoes, a well fitted bra…… or clean shaven, nice smell, short well kept finger nails, etc etc…. those things mean way more than ‘looks’ in my opinion

I have been looking at this picture for quite a while now. First because it is gorgeous and secondly to work out exactly what I love about it. I’m not that bothered about suits. They don’t turn me on, but take the jacket off, take the tie off and you are talking. The cuff links intensify that so much more. I guess the it speaks of taste and standards, but the fact that there is no jacket and tie is so much more promise of someone who is prepared to get down and dirty. Maybe it just pushes my potential filth buttons.

Lovely photo. The composition is great – there’s a sense of purpose to your pose, the lighting perfectly highlights the cufflinks and the table-level camera positioning brings a perspective to your hands that makes them look very strong…the mind wanders. Personally, I can take or leave cufflinks but what I do love is a glimpse of chest hair, especially if I also know there is a fantastic strong chest under the shirt. I find it hard to concentrate on a man’s face or the conversation if there is the tease of chest hair at the top of a good shirt, so for me that is what makes this capture hot. Fab work! xxx
