Eroticon 2019: Meet & Greet

It’s Eroticon time again! This year we’re back at Arlington House in Camden, for what will be my 6th Eroticon weekend. There are a few changes this time round (see below), but one thing I imagine will never be different is my level of enthusiasm and excitement for this wonderful, nourishing celebration of sex positivity – and for all the people who embody it.

With that in mind, here’s this year’s meet and greet post. Check out everyone else’s here.

I blog here as Exhibit A, and I’m on Twitter as @ea_unadorned. However, I feel a bit ridiculous asking people to call me either of those things in public, so I’ll happily tell you my real name if you ask.

Tell us 3 things you are most looking forward to at Eroticon 2019

Every year, I seem to know more and more of the people presenting, and 2019 is no exception. For that reason, I’m particularly looking forward to supporting friends and partners like Amy Norton, Quinn Rhodes, Franki Cookney, and Exposing40 as they lead (undoubtedly excellent) sessions across the two days.

This year will also be special for me because for the first time I’ll be attending Eroticon as a parent! Baby Martha already has a couple of very special outfits picked out for the conference, and I’m grateful to Molly and Michael for being so proactive about creating an inclusive environment for those of us with babies too young to leave at home. It means I’m excited rather than nervous about having her there with us this year.

Finally, I have some very sexy plans for the Saturday afternoon, between KinkLab and the evening entertainment, which for all sorts of reasons I’m looking forward to very much!

We are creating a play list of songs for the Friday Night Meet and Greet. Nominate one song that you would like us to add to the play list and tell us why you picked that song.

I’m torn between Graceland by Paul Simon and Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel, because they’re both favourites of a good friend of mine who’s currently quite sad, and I want to sing them loudly with her over a bottle of wine. BOTW feels like the more appropriate choice, so I’ll go with that.

What is your favourite item or book you’ve purchased so far this year?

A ginormous TV! It looks a bit silly in our modest London living room, but the 55” QLED TV that I got at a heavy discount via work is one of the most extravagant and satisfying purchases I’ve ever made. It’s only the second TV I’ve ever bought – the first was a cheap 24” monitor in 2007 – and I’m glad I managed to push past the weird feelings of guilt I had about spending that much money on something so unnecessary.

You can have an unlimited supply of one thing for the rest of your life, what is it? Sushi? Scotch Tape?

If it has to be something material, I feel like I ought to go with something I can’t routinely afford to buy. Or don’t buy as often as I might like. I love @19syllables’ suggestion of free Air Miles, but I feel like they’ll only give out one allocation of those, so I might pick a really good vintage red from one of the Mendoza vineyards we visited on our honeymoon in Argentina.

What is your favourite quote from a movie?

Is it bad that I don’t really have one? Song lyrics, yes. Book quotations, yes. But few movie quotes stick in my brain. I do like this one though, from BDSM classic ‘Secretary’…

“One scoop of creamed potatoes, a slice of butter, four peas, and as much ice cream as you’d like to eat”

What is your word suggestion for next year’s Eroticon anthology?
