Finally, after four LONG years, it’s time once again to saddle up and get my ass to Eroticon! I don’t think any of us who attended the riotously enjoyable 2019 edition thought we’d have to wait till 2023 for the next opportunity to gather in Camden and talk all things sex (writing), but here we are…and, well, there was Covid.

Tell us 3 things you are most looking forward to at Eroticon 2023
- My wife’s session on ‘The History of Sex in Mainstream Hollywood Movies’! I saw a full run-through last night, so I already know it’s going to be fantastic, and I’m really proud of Liv for doing it.
- The Friday/Saturday night socials. There are people in the community who I haven’t seen for 3-4 years, and it will be a joy both to reconnect with them and to meet new friends. Hanging out in person with the people I do see more regularly will just be a lovely bonus!
- Being inspired! I haven’t really written anything for a while now, but I always come out of Eroticon bursting with ideas, thanks to all the wonderful speakers, so I’m hoping for something similar this time (and maybe for the gift of time to act on that inspiration).
Sadly with a change of venue this year for the Friday night meet and greet we won’t be compiling a play list but I know that everyone enjoys that bit so…. What is a song that always has you turning the volume up?
At the moment, anything by Wolf Alice or First Aid Kit. I’ll be greedy and pick one song by each, so Delicious Things and Emmylou.
What’s the first career you dreamed of having as a kid?
When I was 5, I wanted to be a pilot! I grew up near RAF Brize Norton, and went there on a school trip at a very formative age. Unfortunately (or I suspect fortunately), I learned quite early on that I don’t have 20:20 vision, so was forced to set my sights on careers better suited to my abilities.
What does your joy look like today?
Well I’m writing this about six hours before the Eroticon Meet & Greet gets underway, so that’s the main thing providing active/immediate joy today. In a broader sense though, my family will always be the main source of joy in my life.
What is your favourite musical?
I haven’t been to see a musical for years, though I’ve got tickets for the revival of Guys & Dolls at The Bridge in July, which I’m pretty excited about. Like Molly, I absolutely love The Sound of Music, but the musical that I think has made the biggest impression on me over the years is Once More With Feeling, the S6 episode of Buffy.
